Capsule Wardrobe for Mums

When I had my son I quickly realised that a lot of my more delicate pieces like silk and embellished blouses were just not going to cut the mustard for my new role as a busy mum. But whilst I was aware that my wardrobe would need to adapt, I still wanted to keep my identity and wear functional yet stylish clothing.

When I am not working I spend every moment possible with my son. To make my life easier I like to wear clothes that are easily washable and not overly fussy. A good pair of flats are essential so that I can run around after him, but I still look for stylish items for my mum wardrobe!

I find jeans are pretty much my wardrobe staple so I was so happy when I discovered Twist and Tango’s Julie Jean and their Sid ankle grazers. They wash so well and look great on (seriously- I would say 99% of ladies that try them on in the shop leave with a pair!)

Below is one of my favourite outfits for busy mummas and this look can be created from the current collection at Magpie & Fox.

1. Sid Ankle Navy (£79)These jeans have a slightly higher rise than your average high street pair, so that when you bend down you’re not flashing your derriere to all and sundry! The zips are flattering and add interest.

2. Marie Sixtene Perfecto Mystic Charbon (£72) This is a great little jersey jacket. The metallic collar makes it versatile so that it can be worn by day or by night - more wears for you money!

3. Marie Sixtene Edda T-shirt (£39) 100% linen t-shirt that drapes in all the right places. The linen give it a more luxury feel than your standard cotton T.

4. Becks Sondergaard O-birdy Scarf (£75) This wool and silk mix scarf with the birds is cute as can be and adding a scarf to an outfit adds texture and interest.

5. Ash Virgin Pumps (130) Turn heads whist still being able to run round the park with these fun high tops. This Ash boots are a cult favourite. Look our for more colours coming into the boutique soon!
